With the latest workout announcement from the Desert Games, this video came to mind. Unfortunately, in the class setting we coaches do not get the one on one opportunities to address every members body type and lifting style in the Olympic lifts. This video is a great example that shows the progressions of two different start positions.
There is not a one size fits all to how an athlete sets up and lifts! Your set up will vary dependent on your body type. Grab an empty barbell or PVC and work the technique and find what feels best for you. This may take some time to figure out, but be patient and the results will come!
