It’s going down this weekend in El Paso! The Desert Games are here! This is a huge event featuring a fitness show, strongman and powerlifting, jui-jitsu and of course CrossFit. The downtown convention center is where it’s all taking place in an all day event.
If you aren’t competing please come down and check it out and cheer all of the CFLC competitors on!
Here is a schedule of all of the heats and events. If you’re curious to see who is on what team and their event time you can go to http://www.elpasodesertgames.com for more info. They will also have live scoring up the day of.
Thanks to Axel for this information on this weekend’s closure. Either plan to leave earlier or find an alternate route from the closures:
The rebuilding of the damaged utility bridge in Downtown El Paso is scheduled to begin next week. A continuous weekend-long closure of I-10 at Downtown will start Friday, Aug. 17 at 8 p.m. and run through Monday, August 19 at 5 a.m. In preparation, I-10 East will also be closed Wednesday, Aug. 15 and Thursday, Aug. 16 from 8 p.m. to 5a.m., nightly. Traffic will exit and enter I-10 at Downtown.
“Drivers should utilize alternate routes or plan for extra travel time if they plan to be Downtown during this time. Additional congestion can be expected on the detour route as Yandell and Wyoming will be down to one lane during the closure to allow for utility work,” said TxDOT El Paso District Engineer Bob Bielek.
I’ll be attending the Friday night standards meeting and will post here on the blog immediately after if there are any changes or unusual standards that we need to prep for.
Saturday Closed Gym
Obviously with so many competing this Saturday we will be closing. But if you’re looking for something to do then come check out the event!
